Nurse Anesthetist Jobs Are Available For Employment With A Degree In Anesthesiology
There are several Nurse Anesthetist Jobs available for employment for the Anesthesiology graduates. Generally, a nurse anesthetist administers anesthetics that will make patients insensible to pain during surgical, obstetrical and other medical procedures.
Nurse Anesthetists are teamed up with surgeons, anesthesiologists, dentists, podiatrists, and other qualified healthcare professionals. Nurse Anesthetist Jobs have been in existence for over 125 years. They have already provided anesthesia to wounded soldiers during the Civil War.
Specifically work duties of nurse anesthetist jobs are taking necessary remedial actions to aspirate secretions from throat larynx and trachea as required; determining, setting up and preparing necessary drugs, supplies and equipment for the administration of anesthetics. A nurse anesthetist also assembles gas machine and tests it to insure proper functioning and ensures availability of proper type blood for emergency use. He or she also studies patient records to determine probable effects of anesthetic on patient; monitors vital signs during course of procedure; takes necessary action to ensure a near normal physiological status of the patient.
A anesthesiology nurse also prepares patients for anesthesia to include explaining procedures and positioning patient on operating room table; records condition of patients and types of anesthetic used on patient’s chart. Assists in moving patient from operating room to recovery area; checks patient periodically and takes remedial measures to alleviate unfavorable post anesthesia effects as required. Supervises and instructs student nurse anesthetists in the administration of general anesthetics; assists in evaluating clinical performance and progress; instruct residents, interns and allied health students in the procedures and techniques of anesthesiology.
It is also the job of the nurse anesthetist jobs to disassemble equipment and clean work area; reports necessary equipment repairs and adjustments to proper personnel. The median expected salary for a typical Certified Nurse Anesthetist in the United States is $139,412 and the required qualifications to be able to be eligible for employment as an expert in anesthesiology are the following: graduate from a professional nursing program and from a school of nurse anesthesia approved by the State Accrediting Agency and the Council on Accreditation of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). He or she should have current registration as a professional nurse in the State of North Carolina. He or she should be eligible for certification by the AANA as a certified Nurse Anesthetist is also requirement.
